Any trip to Tunisia would be incomplete without a visit to old Tunis. Established in a sublime natural setting, the exceptionally well preserved medina of Tunis is marked by 3000 years of history and a happy mix of the different cultures and civilizations that have crossed it.
Tunis has its history and the Royal Victoria Hotel is part of it since it is the former home of the English Embassy, occupied since 1662 by the English, which represented the foothold of the British kingdom in Africa North. Today this jewel of Mediterranean architecture has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel.
The location of royal victoria is an ideal location for all visitors which is close to the old town (the medina). This is a hotel which took the place of the former home of the British Embassy and is located opposite the great portal which looked out to the sea during the Middle Ages (Beb Bhar).
Several famous personalities have been the object of the visit of this historic building since its foundation such as Richard Wood, Winston Churchill and some members of the royal family like Prince Charles and many others… this building remains a historic symbol of note in the entrance to the medina since it straddles the modern part of Tunis and the traditional part.
