Tozeur-Nefta international airport (AITA code: TOE • ICAO code: DTTZ) serves Tozeur and Nefta and more generally all of southwestern Tunisia. Located four kilometers north-west of Tozeur, it was put into operation on November 1, 1978.
Like the vast majority of Tunisian airports, the airport is managed by the Office of Civil Aviation and Airports (OACA).
Covering an area of 690 hectares, the airport is mainly used by charters, only the Tunisian companies Tunisair and Tunisair Express providing regular flights. Its activity is essentially linked to the transport of tourists coming to visit southern Tunisia at the gateway to the Sahara. The high season of this airport therefore corresponds to autumn and winter.
With a capacity of 400,000 passengers per year, the terminal covers 6,500 m2. In 2006, it accommodated 80,667 passengers.
