Tunis-Carthage international airport (IATA code: TUN • ICAO code: DTTA) serves Tunis (capital of Tunisia). Located eight kilometers northeast of Tunis, it was put into operation in 1940.
The airport is named after the historic city of Carthage which is located to the east of the airport. When it was put into operation, the aerodrome was known under the name of Tunis-El Aouina.
Like the vast majority of Tunisian airports, the airport is managed by the Office of Civil Aviation and Airports (OACA).
The airport has also served Montreal in Canada in the north of the United States, for a few months.
