Tortillas are from Mexico, Guatemala and the rest of Central America as well as in parts of the southwestern United States.
It is a type of flat soft pastry made from wheat or corn. This type of tortilla is used for the Mexican dish taco.
Here is a simple recipe for wheat tortillas that I use often.
Ingredients
- 225 g wheat flour
- 60 g tempered butter
- 1/2 small spoon salt
- 1/2 small spoon sugar
- 1 dl water
How to prepare Wheat tortillas
First knead until you get a smooth dough and let it rest for ten to fifteen minutes.
Secondly divide the dough into eight pieces and make buns.
Afterwards flatten the dough with a rolling pin to a thin layer and use flour so that the dough doesn’t stick. Brush the remaining flour and cook it in a hot dry frying pan.
Flip it quickly because it gets done quickly.
Finally place the finished tortillas in a tightly refractory form with a lid so that it retains moisture.
You can also make nachos of this. Divide the tortillas in half, put the two parts on top of each other and then divide into triangles and fry them in hot oil.
Nachos
Then sprinkle salt or taco seasoning or whatever you like on top. (Let them drain on a plate of paper).
